I'd love to have you join the waitlist to be notified when open enrollment begins again! FTC is the place for teachers like you to find your people, create beautiful work, and cultivate the conditions for flourishing alongside thoughtful educators who care as deeply about teaching as you do.

FTC is now closed for enrolment for this academic year.

FLOURISHING TEACHERS COLLECTIVE

There comes a point in an educator’s journey when you’ve developed the confidence and expertise to create meaningful learning experiences, yet find yourself asking, “What’s next?” You may be encouraged toward leadership roles you don’t really want. You may have pursued graduate studies to challenge yourself and reconnect with your love of learning, only to discover that sense of intellectual community ends when the program does.

Over the years, I've had this same conversation with educators again and again: You're looking for more than another workshop or resource. You're looking for companions who challenge your thinking, celebrate your creativity, and inspire your next inquiry.

The Flourishing Teachers Collective is my response to teachers' wishes: a community of practice where passionate educators learn alongside one another, cultivate collective wisdom, and create beautiful work together.

Beautiful work might be a classroom inquiry you’ve been longing to try, a creative practice that reconnects you with teaching, a collaboration, or something new that emerges organically.

If you're looking for creative companions for the year ahead, I'd love to welcome you.

What if you could learn alongside creative teachers whose work you admire—and where your whole self is always welcome?

what is the Flourishing Teachers Collective?

— Wendy Russo, Teacher and Teacher Mentor

Dr. Misty has the unique ability to bring out the best in us, and then reflect it back to us while lifting us up in celebration."

Yet meaningful professional growth rarely happens in isolation or all at once. It develops through returning to conversations, building trusted relationships, and learning alongside others over time. The Collective creates the continuity for that growth to unfold.

Workshops spark ideas. Conferences broaden perspectives. Graduate studies deepen our thinking.

Even the best professional learning has its limits.

You're ready to build something meaningful over time, with others

You want to co-create—not just consume—professional learning

You're looking for inquiry companions who care as deeply about teaching as you do

You’re still imagining what school could be, years into the profession

You believe in the value of handcrafted learning experiences

dear artisan teacher...i think we've been looking for each other. Does this sound familiar?

The Flourishing Teachers Collective brings that learning to life
in a professional community shaped by curiosity, creativity, care,
and the wisdom we cultivate together.

For more than twenty-five years, I’ve been learning alongside educators and children about what helps meaningful work flourish.

Where curiosity matters more than right answers, where space is made for every voice, where beautiful inquiries grow through relationships, and where passionate teachers discover they were never too much; they were simply waiting to find their people.

I believe every educator deserves a professional community where they can bring their whole selves to creative work:

I'm committed to nurturing a caring community.

This became a lifeline.

I remembered the teacher I wanted to be.

I found a space where teaching loves me back.

I shared things I'd never shared aloud before.

Educators who have joined me in workshops, mentorship, and research have said:

If you're wondering whether you're "the right kind of teacher" for this community, here's what I've learned: there is no one right way to teach. The educators who flourish are those who remain inclusive, curious, generous, and willing to grow alongside others.

I'll cultivate the conditions for you to think deeply, create meaningful work, and become part of a community that genuinely wants to see you flourish.

Frequently Asked Questions

I envision cozy Studios where every educator can be known and contribute meaningfully. Size and composition will depend on the mix of individual members and school cohorts, with the intention of creating space for conversation, connection, and lasting professional relationships.

Communities are built by communing. The heart of the Flourishing Teachers Collective isn't the ideas I share—it's what we create together. Studio sessions are designed to be participatory spaces where we reflect, create, ask questions, and learn from one another in real time. That experience can't be fully captured in a recording.

Instead of recording every Studio session, I'll curate the key ideas, frameworks, prompts, and classroom resources in the Living Library so you can revisit the learning and stay connected to the work, even if you occasionally have to miss a session.

Every Studio follows a familiar rhythm while leaving plenty of room for curiosity, creativity, and conversation. Breakout rooms are intentionally used to ensure equitable talk-time so all voices are heard.  Together, we'll reconnect, explore a big idea, collaborate, and leave with practical next steps for your classroom.

A typical 90-minute Studio includes:

  • Welcome & Connection – Settle in, reconnect with the community, and reflect on your practice.
  • Creative Inquiry – Explore a compelling idea through stories, making, documentation, or classroom examples.
  • Studio Conversation – Learn alongside educators from different schools, districts, and countries in small-group and whole-group dialogue.
  • Classroom Connections – Identify practical next steps for your own students, inquiry, or project.
  • Looking Ahead – Close with a simple invitation to carry the learning forward until we meet again.

Yes! If you need one for your school or district, I’m happy to provide a certificate for the professional learning hours available across the year. I won’t be taking attendance; the Collective is built on trust, professional responsibility, and a shared commitment to learning together.
Many schools and districts have professional learning funds that can be used for opportunities like the Flourishing Teachers Collective. Funding guidelines vary, so I can’t guarantee eligibility. If you’re unsure, I encourage you to check with your school or district.
Yes. The Flourishing Teachers Collective is informed by more than 25 years of educational practice, doctoral research, and current scholarship across education, psychology, creative health, leadership studies, and the learning sciences.

My work brings research into conversation with the wisdom of educators working in schools every day.

Members will also have opportunities to contribute to the wider field through collaborative publications, presentations, and other forms of knowledge mobilization.

Yes! While the Collective is designed as an online community, I’d love for our relationships to extend beyond the screen.

I plan to host occasional Members First creative gatherings in Vancouver and surrounding areas. Collective members will receive the first invitation and may bring a plus one.

Live somewhere else? Invite me to your community! I’d love to explore opportunities to gather with members in other places when schedules and budgets align.

I’m also exploring a members-only international retreat for July 2027.

Please note: In-person gatherings, retreats, travel, and related costs are separate from annual membership.

Absolutely! I’ve been getting lots of questions about extending our Collective work into individual classrooms, and I’d love to make more personalized support available to members.

Zoom-based Mentorship with Misty is available to Collective members at a reduced member rate and can include time together to think through your classroom work, working alongside you and your students, or working directly with students in their inquiry project.

Want in-person support? I’d love to come to you! Let’s align schedules and budgets to make it happen.
Please note: I live in Vancouver, B.C. Canada for travel considerations.
